What to Wear in 2007? The dress for this special evening is formal military attire or civilian evening attire - this is not a Black Tie event. Each service has a designated Ball Uniform (Mess Dress) for such functions, and Midshipmen, Cadets, and active-duty military should wear their seasonally appropriate attire for this event. Retired military have the option of wearing either their Mess Dress or civilian evening attire. All Cadets and Midshipmen in attendance should plan to arrive at the event in their formal attire and remain in this attire throughout the evening. All female Midshipmen and Cadets have the option of changing into civilian formal wear at the conclusion of the program, and prior to the start of the dance.
